Overview

Developed within the framework of a research initiative led by NTCRI, the Bark project explores paper mulberry fiber as a material for design innovation.

The workshop brought together artisans, researchers, and designers to investigate traditional fiber extraction and processing techniques, followed by experimental material development in both two- and three-dimensional forms.

As artistic director, Patricio Sarmiento guided the product development phase, translating material research into contemporary design proposals. The process combined craft knowledge with design methodology, resulting in prototypes that explore new applications of bark fiber in a contemporary context.

Collaboration

Developed in collaboration with NTCRI research teams, local craft specialists, and international design expertise.
